Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline, March 14, 2008

Greetings folks & welcome to the Official Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline for March 14, 2008. We are just a shade over a week away from the 2nd Annual "Bane’s Pride Memorial Tournament" that will determine who becomes the second ever Fire Pro Wrestling Pride Champion. That statement seems to be a bit confusing, because this tournament, although being a yearly occurrence that crowns the Pride champion, is not a "one & done" type of event. Meaning, once a Pride champion has been crowned, that man must defend the Pride championship, under Pride title rules (more on that in a moment), at Fire Pro Wrestling live events. The title can change hands at any given time. But so far in the existence of the title, there has only been one man to hold it. Chase "The Face" Richards was crowned inaugural Pride champion one year ago & proceeded to run the table with his title defenses. He took on all comers & managed to remain champion for a full calendar year. That is truly one extraordinary feet.

Given that amazing run, it would seem unfair to make Richards vacate his title & force him to compete in the tournament, without any byes either, to reclaim his championship. But when the Pride title was established, these were the rules that accompanied its creation & it’s just the way it is. To his credit, Richards hasn’t complained one bit about his situation & has welcomed the challenge. The one benefit he has received is being declared the 1 seed for the tournament, rightfully so. With that seeding, Richards was allowed to pick his opponent in the tournaments first round. Richards opted to face long-time bitter rival "The Regulator" Tristin Hayze. Throw in the Pride title rules which state that there is no count out, no disqualification, no rope break & closed fists are legal, and the match between Richards & Hayze could be become a truly vicious affair.

We’ll run down the card for the 2nd Annual "Bane’s Pride Memorial Tournament" a little later on in the newsline, but first let’s get to the news:

*I wish I had more than rumor at this fact, but I’ve gotten wind that we may be in need of a new Executive Director of the Fire Pro Wrestling Championship Committee sooner rather than later. Former Fire Pro Heavyweight Champion "The Big Jack" John Burke is gearing up for a comeback & has been testing his surgically repaired back for such an endeavor. If Burke returns to active competition, he’ll have to give up his management position, which means the search for a new boss will be required. By no means is this a sure thing & right now no one is commenting officially. So I guess we’ll play the waiting game to see if the rumors pan out.

*"Da Juggernaut" Osyris has been telling anyone who will listen that he fully intends to become the Pride champion & use that elevated status to catapult him into the Heavyweight title picture. If the 400-pounder decides to set his sight on the Heavyweight title & manages to become champion, it would be hard to see anyone taking the title from him because of his size advantage. Of course, Osyris has to get to that position first. Saying you’re going to do something is all well & good. But you have to do it to back up those words.

*I mentioned it last week & I’ll say it again this week; if you have yet to see the pictures of the new Fire Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship title belt, take the time to check it out. The new gold is simply stunning & quite frankly a work of art. The Heavyweight title here in Fire Pro is certainly a coveted championship & with the new gold on its way, the title will be, hands down, the best looking title belt in the industry.

*As a reminder, Fire Pro Wrestling will be adding to its impressive guest roster on May 31st, when we welcome legendary tag team Demolition. The original members, Ax & Smash, will be on hand & they will be competing.

*You don’t have to wait until a Fire Pro show to get great Fire Pro Wrestling merchandise. If you want to get the best merchandise around, ranging from t-shirts in all shapes & sizes (including children’s sizes) to DVD’s of our events, and avoid the long lines at the live events email fireprodiehard@hotmail.com as soon as possible. It’s the best way to place an order. This will ensure the item you want isn’t sold out come live event day!

*If you’ve ever wanted to get into wrestling, the time is now. Opportunities exist for those interested in joining Fire Pro Wrestling. Want to be a wrestler or a referee? Here is your chance, contact us at fireprodiehard@hotmail.com if you’d like more info or to get your wrestling career started.

Remember, we return to action on March 22nd as Fire Pro Wrestling presents the 2nd Annual "Bane’s Pride Memorial Tournament" at the Fire Pro Arena, located on the Impact Christian Church Campus, 401 W. 82nd Place, Merrillville, Indiana. Tickets are just $10 for adults & $6 for children. Doors open at 6 P.M. with bell time at 7 P.M.

We will be potentially be crowing a new champion that night, unless Chase "The Face" Richards can make it through the bracket to re-claim his title once more.

In addition to Richards & Hayze, they are joined in the tournament by:
-Syn
-PT Hustla
-"Luscious" Louis Linaris
-"Youngblood" Hayden Kent
-Christopher Kent
-"Da Juggernaught" Osyris

In addition to the Pride Tournament, other matches scheduled include:

-The Fire Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions, Risk Factor (Roach & Jynx) will put their titles on the line against the number 1 contenders, the Newest of the New Techno Breed 2000 ("Handsome" Kenny Courageous & Hoss). Can Courageous capture gold without Devon Fury?

-There will also be a Last Man Standing Battle Royal.

That will do is for this edition of the Official Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline.
