Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline, May 2, 2008

Greetings folks & welcome to the Official Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline for May 2nd , 2008. We are coming off another great live event as "Out For Justice" on April 26th was a complete success in all ways, shapes & forms. A big thank you to those of you who joined us live that night. And a special thanks goes out to the fine folks of Demotte, IN who hosted us for a special Sunday matinee event on April 27th. The Sunday "Ignite" extravaganza was a rounding success as well & it made for one exciting weekend. We'll get into what happened over the weekend on both Saturday & Sunday in just a moment.

As well as having results from this past weekend, this newsline will have information regarding our next great live event, May 31st at the Fire Pro Wrestling Arena, located on the Impact Christian Church Campus in Merrillville, IN, as Fire Pro presents "Demolished." That night you'll be able to see both members of former world tag team champions Demolition, Ax & Smash, in action. They will also be signing autographs as well.

Also, it's finally launched folks! That's right after LOTS of trials & many errors, the Official Fire Pro Wrestling Podcast has gone live. And live in a big way...the podcast has joined the big leagues & is available on iTunes for download to your iPod or other MP3 player. I'll have all the details on it later in the newsline.

We opened "Out For Justice" with the announcement of the absence of Fire Pro Wrestling Commissioner "The Big Jack" John Burke that night. Burke had recently been hospitalized with a severe case of pneumonia & was unable to attend "Out For Justice" that evening. But we needed someone to take charge that evening & that someone was none other than former Fire Pro Wrestling Pride Champion, Chase "The Face" Richards. Burke had appointed Richards as the Deputy Commissioner for the night. Richards also joined me as my partner for commentary, which can be found on the upcoming DVD release of "Out For Justice" which will be available soon.

Our opening contest saw the team of The Uprising ("Warfare" Jeremy Hadley & "Mucho Loco" Luis Rojas) defeating "Stonehands" Slater Wallace & Fuzion. This was Wallace's debut match after his successful completion of the training program at the Fire Pro Wrestling Training Center (opportunities exist for you to join Fire Pro Wrestling if you've ever wanted to wrestle. More info on that later in the newsline). Unfortunately for Wallace, he came up short in his debut, but I'm guessing we'll see more of this young man in the future as he has tremendous upside.

After the opening match, I was fortunate enough to be able to present the current reigning Fire Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion "Diehard" Steve Szoke with the brand new Fire Pro Wrestling Championship belt. During the presentation ceremony, "The Product" Christopher Kent, alongside M. Marvin Wentworth made their way to the ring & interrupted the festivities. We had all been expecting Kent to offer an explanation as well as an apology for his actions over the past month. Unfortunately, the only thing Kent apologized for was wrestling for the fans, believing Szoke & for ever trusting anyone but Wentworth. During the heated exchange, Wentworth was able to distract Szoke while Kent grabbed the new title belt & proceeded to hit Szoke in the back of the head with the gold before retreating to the back, with the title belt in his hand.

Up next we were joined by the Wages of Syn faction. This group, led by Syn consists of Virus, The Konvict & a new member they introduced that night. We have come to known him as Hoss, but Syn re-christened him as Skuz, and then splattered some sort of green paint on the man as though were marking his territory. After this we saw all the members of the Wages of Syn remain ringside as all competed.

Up first, Virus defeated Scotty Young thanks to the assistance of Syn. We then saw The Konvict defeat Russell "The Muscle" Jones again thanks to Syn, who this time spewed green mist in the face of Jones, allowing The Konvict to secure the victory. After that, we were to see the newly named Skuz in action against a formidable challenger in Gilbert Lewis. Unfortunately, the numbers game caught up with Lewis as Skuz was able to defeat him. After the match, all the members of the Wages of Syn attacked Lewis. This brought out Lewis' tag team partner in the Groucho Marks, "The Moustache Model" Carl Morris for the save.

At this point, acting Commissioner Richards had seen enough & made a tag team match that would feature the Groucho Marks against Syn & Skuz. That match would take place right then & there, but not before Richards barred Virus & The Konvict from ringside & security escorted them to the back. With the match now a fair fight, the Groucho Marks defeated Syn & Skuz.

Our next match was highly anticipated given the actions we witnessed earlier in the night. "The Aerial Assassin" Roach was set to take on "The Product" Christopher Kent. When Kent was introduced, he came down to the ring wearing the title belt he had stolen from Szoke earlier in the night. The match was a very closely contested bout until Szoke came out to retrieve his title belt. The distraction allowed Roach to score the pinfall & defeat Kent. After the match, Szoke "invited" Kent to become a part of the main event that night, making the match a 3-Way Dance, because Kent was "in need of a serious beating." But Roach had a better idea. Since he was able to defeat Kent, he felt he should get a title shot as well. Richards agreed & made the main event a 4-Way for the heavyweight title.

Our Deputy Commissioner took some personal interest in the next contest. Tristin Hayze was set for action, but Richards wanted to ensure that "The Regulator" was properly challenged so he put Hayze in a match with "Da Juggernaught" Osyris. Sensing nothing he was trying was working, Hayze tried to save himself from further punishment by walking out. At this point, Richards informed Hayze that the match was a no count-out affair. After that, Hayze tried to get disqualified, even going so far as to hit the big man with a steel chair. Feeling he was in the clear, Hayze began to leave content to leave alive, albeit with a loss. However, Richards informed Hayze that it was a no disqualification match. Once Osyris was able to get his hands on Hayze, the beating was on & Osyris ended up scoring the victory.

We then had our first title match of the night as "Flawless" Dave Allen defended his 24/7 Hard Target Title against Jynx. By the very nature of the title, it's very likely something unpredicted will occur. And that night was no exception. During the match, The Uprising ran to the ring to attack Jynx. Seeing a golden opportunity, Rojas tried pinning Allen to claim the title. Realizing that Rojas had a great idea, out came newcomer Ryan Rage & Fuzion. This created a 6-man with all 5 challengers trying to get their hands on Allen. The match ended when Allen was able to get the pin on Rage. After the match, Fuzion tried get to Allen, but by then Allen retreated to the back with his title.

Our next title match had "Youngblood" Hayden Kent making his first Fire Pro Wrestling Pride Title defense against "The Big Texan" Marc Houston. I'm happy to report that this Kent still has the right idea about doing things in a respectful manner & he was rewarded with a successful title defense defeating Houston to earn a well-deserved, hard-fought victory.

We were all set to see the Fire Pro Tag Team Championship defended with the New Breed defending their titles against Celtic Cross. When Celtic Cross was introduced only Angus McDuff came to the ring as The Crusader was nowhere to be found. The New Breed came out & McDuff tried to put forth a valiant effort, but came up short in his bid to capture tag team gold by himself. After a spike piledriver finished off McDuff, the New Breed grabbed the microphone & announced that The Crusader had an "accident in the back" thus explaining his absence. During the moment when the New Breed was telling us how great they are, the Groucho Marks came to the ring to help their friend McDuff, who wasn't in the best of shape. The New Breed started insulting the Groucho Marks as they were coming to the aid of McDuff. Hearing enough, Richards decided that since the New Breed hadn't technically had a tag team title defense, they were to put the titles on the line right then & there against the Groucho Marks.

Despite competing in his third match of the night, Lewis & his partner Morris readily accepted & the match was on. Overcoming the long-shot odds, the Groucho Marks were able to capture the titles, becoming the new tag team champions after hitting their battering ram maneuver, followed by the earthquake sit by Morris. With that, we have new tag team champions.

And finally we came to our main event of the evening. The Fire Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Title Match was to be decided in a single elimination 4-Way match featuring the Champion "Diehard" Steve Szoke defending his title against "The Product" Christopher Kent, Roughneck Jay Ryan & Roach. This match spilled throughout the arena as all 4 men threw all they had at one another. At the end, it came down to Ryan holding Szoke as Kent prepared to hit him with the title belt. At the last possible second, Szoke was able to slip free & Kent ended up clocking Ryan with the belt. Szoke deposited Kent to the outside & covered Ryan for the victory.

At this point, Szoke began celebrating & we thought it was the end to a great night. But things got really weird. Someone claiming to be Botch complete with the wearing a gas mask, robe and essentially dressed head to toe in Botch's gear came out to the ring. Whoever this person was climbed up onto the ring apron, but when Szoke invited them into the ring, "Botch" got down from the ring & walked right out the front door. Hopefully we'll get some clarity on this situation in the not too distant future.

On Sunday, April 27th, Fire Pro presented "Ignite" in Demotte, Indiana.

The quick results are:

The Groucho Marks defeated the New Breed to retain their tag team titles.

In a 24/7 Hard Target Title Scramble Match (Starts off as a battle royal, when it comes down to 2 opponents, it then goes to a pinfall for the win). We saw Syn, The Konvict, Skuz, Virus, Angus McDuff, "Rocking" Ritchie Rocket & Johnny Motley vie for a chance to defeat "Flawless" Dave Allen for his title. The match came down to Allen & McDuff, with Allen defeating McDuff to retain his title

"Mucho Loco" Luis Rojas defeated Russell "The Muscle" Jones

For the first time ever, King of the Cruiserweights Title was defended in Fire Pro Wrestling. The Champion Jynx defeated "Warfare" Jeremy Hadley to retain.

"The Regulator" Tristin Hayze defeated Scotty Young.

In a 4-Way Fire Pro Wrestling Pride Title Match the Champion "Youngblood" Hayden Kent defeated "Luscious" Louis Linaris, "The Big Texan" Marc Houston & "Stonehands" Slater Wallace. After the match, Houston, tired of his losing ways thanks to Kent, attacked the champion, vowing that he would eventually get his hands on the gold.

Our main event was a tag team match featuring Roach & "Diehard" Steve Szoke taking on "The Product" Christopher Kent w/M. Marvin Wentworth & Machine. Roach & Szoke were able to get the win.
