Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline, September 28, 2007
Well "End of the Road" is almost upon us & tomorrow nights potentially historic event is shaping up with an absolute first class array of matches. Without a doubt, this card is stacked, and every match has the potential to steal the show. And there will be something for everyone. Before we get to my match previews & predictions, lets quickly go through the news:
*On the eve of his first official title defense, Fire Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, "The Professor of Old School" Cade Lee remains steadfast in his confidence that a win over "Diehard" Steve Szoke is a mere formality. Lee even took time during our conversation to tell a cruel, largely unfunny joke that ended with "rectum damn near killed him." If I was him, and I thank my lucky stars I am not, I wouldn't rattle the cage of a wounded animal. Szoke is even more motivated for success due to his bout with rectal cancer & he is very eager to live up to his nickname of "Diehard.'
*A few days ago I received a postcard from the Fire Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions, The New Breed, who are currently enjoying their pre-show vacation. The postcard said:
"Hey Moron,
We are on the beach "training" for our match, but do us a favor and tell Risk Factor that not even that HAS BEEN Lex LOSER can help them get our titles. See you on the 29th at "End of the Road" and get ready to announce us as still Fire Pro Wrestling tag team champions!
Hugs and Kisses,
Kenny and Devon
*Nothing is finalized, but I've been working on a deal to bring your favorite Fire Pro Wrestling superstars closer to you than you've ever imagined. I hope to have more news on this front come next week & once I know, you'll know.
*On a related side note, Impact Christian Church has their official grand opening on Sunday, September 30th at 11 A.M. Lex Luger himself will be on hand & will be speaking as well. Everyone is welcome, even me.
On to the match previews & predictions:
Lets start with the 4-way tag match featuring Team Omega ("Diehard" Steve Szoke & "Youngblood" Hayden Kent) vs. Ultra Babies ("Hot Bod" Shawn Davis & Fuzion) vs. Urban Warfare (Jeremy Hadley & Trauma) vs. Border Patrol (Prince Ali & Luis Ruas). Lots of intangibles in this contest as all four teams head into this match with little knowledge about their opponents. In fact, of the teams competing in this match only Team Omega has competed together before in Fire Pro Wrestling. Due to their experience in tag team action in Fire Pro, I'm gonna go with Team Omega as my pick. Szoke is a former tag team champion & Hayden Kent has a wealth of tag team experience as past of the Kent Boys team. Keep an eye on the Ultra Babies team though; they could be the dark horse in this contest.
Moving on to Willie "Da Bomb" Richardson vs. The Crusader. I've said it before & I'll say it again, Richardson is one of the best big men in the business & he comes into this match with entirely too much experience as compared to The Crusader. This could be a great learning experience for the rookie, but unfortunately that's all he'll be able to take away from this as "Da Bomb" rolls to a victory.
Ok, this next contest is my lock of the month. Machine vs. Sean Tyler. Let's break it down as simple as possible. Machine is big, strong, scary, mean & angry. Sean Tyle, thanks for coming & it was nice knowing you, but you ran into a motivated monster at the wrong time. We'll all send you a get-well card. Machine gets the W.
Fire Pro Wrestling Pride Champion Chase "The Face" Richards puts his title on the line when he defends against Angus McDuff. I still believe McDuff is battling arm problems even if he denies that, but he's a true competitor that will make the most of his title opportunity. However, Richards is a champion for a reason & I believe he will prevail, retaining his coveted Pride championship.
The most difficult match to handicap by far is the 6-Man Gauntlet Match for the King of Targets Title. Wrestlers announced for this match are "The Regulator" Tristin Hayze, Christopher Kent, "The Moustache Model" Carl Morris, "The Associate" Dave Allen, Gilbert Lewis & Prince Ali. For those of you new to Fire Pro, the King of Targets title is not necessarily a new title for us; it's the former Cruiserweight championship that is being opened up to any & all comers. It can still be challenged for at any time as a 24/7 title, but now by anyone. No one relished being a champion more than Carl Morris, so I have a hard time believing he wont do anything & everything to stay a champion. So Morris is my reluctant choice, but something tell me to keep on an eye on Christopher Kent. Could this be his time to become the first Kent to taste Fire Pro championship gold? I wouldn't put it past him.
I think the only people excited about Cade Lee's title run are Lee himself & the CEO of Cade Lee Enterprises, Inc., Lynn Marie. Other than that, no one is happy that Lee represents the pinnacle of Fire Pro. But that can all come to an end as Fire Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Cade Lee defends his title against "Diehard" Steve Szoke. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but Szoke has so much to prove & so much disdain for Lee that I truly believe Lee is going to have a very short title reign as "Diehard" takes the heavyweight championship from him. Lee has just taken Szoke entirely too much for granted & that's what causes you to lose. Thank goodness it's Lee that loses.
And that brings us to the scheduled "End of the Road" Main Event. The Fire Pro Wrestling Tag team Champions, The New Breed, put their titles on the line against Risk Factor. I can't think of any other Fire Pro competitors who are more devious, underhanded, conniving & unfortunately successful as The New Breed. Risk Factor comes into this match with a special weapon though as "The Total Package" Lex Luger will be in their corner. Sadly, seeing what The New Breed has accomplished as champions, I think even the presence of Luger wont be enough for Risk Factor. I hate to say it, but The New Breed will just barely hang on to their titles & Risk Factor will get screwed again.
Well that will do it for this edition of the Fire Pro Wrestling newsline. Make your plans to join us tomorrow night, Sept. 29th, for "End of the Road" at the Fire Pro Arena, located on the Impact Christian Church Campus, 401 W. 82nd Place, Merrillville, Indiana. Tickets are just $10 for adults & $6 for children. Doors open at 6 P.M. with bell time at 7 P.M.
"The Total Package" Lex Luger will be on hand to sign autographs, take pictures and make his presence felt in the main event. I hope you enjoyed this & in next week's edition, I'll recap "End of the Road" & of course bring you the very latest news from in, around & beyond the Fire Pro Wrestling ring.
