Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline, April 18, 2008

Greetings folks & welcome to the Official Fire Pro Wrestling Newsline for April 18th, 2008. We are a shade over a week away from the next great Fire Pro live event “Out For Justice” which takes place Saturday, April 26th at the Fire Pro Arena, located on the Impact Christian Church Campus. With “Out For Justice” nearing, things are sort of in a holding pattern right now. Those in competition are gearing up for their matches & it seems to be the proverbial “calm before the storm.”

Having said that, I suppose I’m apologizing in advance for the lack of a truly memorable newsline. I’ll wait to give my official preview & predictions until the next newsline, the one immediately preceding the next live event. And the news this week is a bit light. So if it seems redundant & boring, I apologize.

Before we get to the news, and this would qualify as a news item but seems so much more important than anything wrestling related, I want to talk a little bit about the charitable contributions of Fire Pro Wrestling. Fire Pro is incorporated as a not-for-profit business. What that means essentially is that aside from generating revenue to pay for expenses & pay the bills, Fire Pro is not a money making company. Not that Fire Pro is a losing operation, far from it. It’s that all the net profit is donated to certain designated charities or charitable endeavors. You often hear announcements made at our live events stating “proceeds tonight are going to…” and those announcements are fact.

The designated charitable donation for the upcoming “Out For Justice” live event was to be a man named Michael Hardman. Mr. Hardman had been fighting pancreatic cancer while facing rising medical costs & his insurance was about to run out. Fire Pro decided to make him our designated “charity” for the month & all proceeds were to be donated to help pay his medical costs when the insurance ran out. Sadly, the insurance company won’t have to worry about cutting Mr. Hardman’s insurance coverage any longer, because he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

While some may wonder what happens now to the money that’s generated at “Out For Justice” rest assured that despite the untimely loss of Mr. Hardman, we will not be putting that money in our pockets. Just because he has moved on, doesn’t mean there still isn’t work to be done. All proceeds from ticket sales & concessions will still be donated to him, but in the form of aiding his family with paying off the remaining medical bills.

Now here is my appeal to you. Everyone who comes to a Fire Pro live event is making a contribution. I speak from experience when I know how exciting it is to perform in front of a sold out venue. And the wrestlers in the Fire Pro locker room feel the same way, trust me. That contribution by the fans is greatly appreciated more than you’ll know. And here comes the hard part…you can do more. We all can do more. If you buy a ticket, that helps, but just coming isn’t enough. It’s great, don’t get me wrong, and without you, we wouldn’t exist. But when the money from a hot dog or soda (pop for us Midwesterners) goes towards helping people suffering, and believe me, stage 4 pancreatic cancer is suffering beyond belief, there can always be more. Burying someone who has left us too soon is suffering. Maybe you don’t want a hot dog or a pop or some candy. That’s fine. But you can donate without that. I know I sound like a bad telethon pleading for your hard earned money. I know it’s hard to give away money without seeing immediate gratification. I know all those things & it’s hard for me too. But imagine the difficulty in watching a loved one suffer & pass on too soon. It’s the least we can do. I’m sorry if that was hard to read & I apologize if I offended anyone. It’s not my intention at all. All I’m saying is that if we have the means to help, lets use those means for a worthwhile cause.

Before we get to those rankings though, let’s take care of the few news items we do have (and most are repeats, sorry for that):

*Some new content has been posted to the Fire Pro Wrestling channel on YouTube. What? You didn’t know that Fire Pro had a YouTube page? Well, where have you been? Get on over there & check it out. Some new material from the Bane’s Pride Memorial Tournament is online now. You can check out the channel at http://www. youtube. com/fireprotv

*As a reminder, Fire Pro Wrestling will be adding to its impressive guest roster on May 31st, when we welcome legendary tag team Demolition. The original members, Ax & Smash, will be on hand & they will be in action.

*You don’t have to wait until a Fire Pro show to get great Fire Pro Wrestling merchandise. If you want to get the best merchandise around, ranging from t-shirts in all shapes & sizes (including children’s sizes) to DVD’s of our events, and avoid the long lines at the live events email fireprodiehard@hotmail.com as soon as possible. It’s the best way to place an order. This will ensure the item you want isn’t sold out come live event day!

*If you’ve ever wanted to get into wrestling, the time is now. Opportunities exist for those interested in joining Fire Pro Wrestling. Want to be a wrestler or a referee? Here is your chance, contact us at fireprodiehard@hotmail.com if you’d like more info or to get your wrestling career started.

*The long anticipated Fire Pro Wrestling podcast will launch next week. It hasn’t been decided which day the podcast will be posted, but it will be up that week. When I have a set date, you’ll know for sure. This is a very exciting time for Fire Pro. If you want to check it out, go to http://www. myspace. com/theofficialfireprowrestlingpodcast
